Importation of frozen semen

  • An excellent way of bringing new genetics into the country, provided that sufficient semen of a good enough quality can be imported to ensure more than one litter.
  • Anyone planning on importing semen should consult with us before proceeding to ensure that the appropriate amount of semen is requested.
  • Health requirements vary for each country. An import permit must be obtained before semen is collected in order to ensure compliance. Failing this, the semen may be turned away on arrival at the airport.
  • Shipping is in vapour shippers which do not contain liquid nitrogen but nevertheless maintain the semen at -196ºC.
  • Once you have of located the male of your choice and negotiated with the overseas breeder we can handle all the logistical arrangements for you.
